Thoughts From da' Coach . . .

“I have always enjoyed teaching and encouraging children in a positive & age appropriate swim instruction promoting kindness, gentleness and courtesy.

Meeting the baby, toddler or child, wherever he or she is at, is paramount to my approach at the initial contact and subsequent stages of swim development thereafter.

Science, reason, research, observation and experience supports a learning process that is both supportive and nurturing, seen with that caregiver preferably mom in the water holding her baby or toddler at the time of training, thus creating a trusting learning environment for all while maintaining safety and building confidence.

Learning swim skills, such as the back float, in this manner are unforced and the trust relationship between baby and mom is strengthened and uncompromised.  The babies comfort level and trust is the key.  The beautiful, natural trusting relationship between baby and mom flourishes.

In using this method of calming, gentle and positive affirmation, we can safely conclude that trust is the compass that guides, the “Coach” is the rudder that steers, and that ‘someone else’ (preferably mom) is the anchor that holds.

I am an avid proponent of teaching swimming skills that will last for a lifetime.  Through positive teaching methods, the joy of entering the water at the age of 3 months should also be experienced and enjoyed for a lifetime!”
